What is your capacity?

We can accommodate up to 225 guests.


What is your hold policy?

We can hold a date for up to five days. We will release the date if we do not hear from you, or we can reserve it for you with a signed contract and a 50% non-refundable deposit returned to The Barn on New River.


What are the hours for my event? 

The Barn on New River stands out from others in this regard. We feel there are so many things to do to prepare for your big day. We will only hold one event per weekend. This will allow you to set up 12:00 noon on Friday and have your rehearsal Friday evening. That leaves all day Saturday to relax and enjoy your Wedding Day. You will need to have everything removed from the Barn by 12:00 noon on Sunday. Your rental is for an event period not exceeding six (6) hours. Your event must end by 11:00 pm, and all serving of alcohol must end 30 min. prior to that.


Do you Cater?

Our job is to solely focus on your event, so we only host.


Is Alcohol allowed?

The Barn on New River does not have a liquor license and we do not assume any responsibility for the use of any alcohol. You are fully responsible for it. All alcohol must be served by a certified bartender through a caterer. All caterers are required to carry necessary permits and insurance to cover the alcohol at your event.


Can we Decorate?

Yes you can. Note that all decorating with ladders must be done by an insured vendor.


Is Parking provided?

Yes, parking is provided onsite. The Barn will provide parking attendants, which is included in your rental fee. Your guests will be directed by the attendants as they arrive. No vehicles may be left overnight.


When is my rehearsal?

The day prior to your wedding.


Can I have a DJ/music?

Yes, however the music must be kept inside the barn, except for your ceremony and cocktail hour.


Who is responsible for cleaning the Barn and trash?

The Caterers are responsible for removing their trash. You will be responsible for removing all decorations and anything you may bring. The Barn on New River will remove all other trash. We will clean the reception room and bathrooms after you leave.


What rentals will the barn provide?

The barn will provide beautiful cross back chairs, tables, and outdoor seating for the ceremony. There will also be whiskey barrel cocktail tables as well as additional seating and fire pits in the cocktail area.


Do you have options for staying on-site?

Yes, we have a 4-bedroom 3-bath cabin that sits on the back 30 acres of the property. The cabin sleeps 10 and it sits along the New River with 3 ponds. We can even rent you some kayaks if you wish.

where is the closest town located?

We are located only 9 miles from West Jefferson, (listed in the top 10 of “coolest smalltowns in NC") and only 20 miles from Boone.


Is it okay to invite children?

Children are always welcome at The Barn on New River. The natural surroundings at the venue do include some hazards. Children should not be unsupervised at any time. Guests who are bringing children to your event should be notified in advance that they will need to provide constant and vigilant supervision. We have a river, ponds, and lots of other things kids love to get in to.
